Shoplifting charge violates ex-con’s probation

Story By Daily Commercial

CLERMONT — A 29-year-old local woman apparently cared more about a dog than her freedom, allegedly stealing flea treatment from Wal-Mart and, in the process, violating her probation for robbery and grand theft.

Giselle Walters is charged with petty theft and violating her probation. She will be arraigned in court on Oct. 22 on the theft charge and on Nov. 22 on the probation violation charge.

Police said Walters walked out of the store without paying for two packs of PetArmor flea and tick treatment for dogs worth $55.08 each.

She was released from prison only five months ago after serving less than two years of a 3-year sentence in 2013 for robbery with a weapon and grand theft. She is on probation until May 2017, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.
