Jamie “Jim” Schloss graduated from University of California’s Haas School of Business in 1985 and the University of Southern California Law Center in 1988. He worked as a student extern for the Los Angeles Superior Court’s law and motion department. Following passing the bar in 1988, Mr. Schloss practiced law throughout California and obtained extensive trial and appellate experience. As well as defending various cases, Mr. Schloss served as lead counsel for civil trials with verdicts exceeding $250 million. Mr. Schloss’s reported appellate decisions include In re Bernard (9th Cir. 1996) 96 F.3d 1279 (Affirming trial verdict denying debtor a bankruptcy discharge); In re Belli (9th Cir. BAP Cal. 2001) 268 B.R. 851 (relating to judgment denying chapter 7 discharge); Kaufman v. ACS Systems, Inc. (2003) 110 Cal. App. 4th 886 (class action litigation–TCPA); and DBJJJ, Inc. v. National City Bank (2004) 123 Cal. App. 4th 1230 (Letters of Credit litigation)
Mr. Schloss is licensed to practice law California in Federal court before the California District Courts, the Ninth Circuit Court, and the United States Supreme Court.
Injuries precluding further athletics, Mr. Schloss plays chess holding a Master’s Certificate, plays guitar and ukulele, and sang with various choruses, most recently the Santa Monica Oceannaires and the Santa Monica College Concert Chorale.
